Commissioner Karachi Naveed Ahmed Sheikh on Friday directed police to start taking action against any individuals involved in wall chalking after a ban was imposed on the act under Section 144.
The ban has been imposed on private and government buildings in all districts of Karachi.
According to the notification, the Karachi Metropolitan Municipality had drawn the attention of the Karachi administration towards this issue.
It was said that some political, religious and business groups in the city are involved in wall chalking without permission and that the city’s aesthetic was being affected due to this.
It was also pointed out that wall chalking is also used to spread false information.
The Commissioner directed all the Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners to enforce the ban against wall-chalking in coordination with the concerned SSP.
