A Peoples Republic of China delegation called on city administrator Iftikhar Ali Shallwani to offer support for uplift of Karachi infrastructure, coastal areas and construction of parking plaza
The delegation led by director of Houji Group Mr Xiang Qiwen and Miss Wang Huayu and Coordinator Friendship of Foreign Country Mr Yang Haiming discussed with Karachi admisnistrator matters of mutual interests.
The delegation, in fact, offered to sign an MoU for declaring Karachi and similar Chinese urban regions ‘Sister Cities’.
Shallwani, delighted by the offer, said Pakistan and China forge ironclad friendship and added that a mega project like CPEC brought both the countries even closer.
He said Pakistani economy is most likely to benefit from CPEC.
Karachi admisnistrator said Pakistan and China already work on several joint venture projects and that Chinese experts have played vital role to introduce development in Pakistan.
“KMC wants to uplift infrastructure of the city and carry out road construction and other works.”
The administrator said they want to develop coastal areas as well as the parking plazas that, he said, were the need of the hour.
Chinese experience and expertise in these fields would surely help the local administration, Shallwani noted.
He said Karachi being gateway and economical hub of Pakistan offers plenty opportunities for investors, especially owing to its geographical situation.“
“This city is known as commercial capital as business activities are done throughout the year,” he said underlining there are four economic zones, two ports and an international standard airport in Karachi.
The administrator said roads and footpaths are either constructed anew or being renovated in both residential and commercial areas.
The delegation said Karachi is the biggest city of Pakistan and that China wants prosperity and development for the city’s people, adding that China is ready for all-out support.
