Sindh Governor Imran Ismail visited the bereaved parents of 6 years’ Maham (who was raped and murdered) in Korangi, Karachi on Friday. Says, it is our responsibility to make Karachi a safe city.
Imran along with Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf’s Khurram Sher Zaman visited Maham’s family in Korangi area of Karachi. Talking to the journalists, the governor said that it is essential to transform Karachi into a Safe City and the use of modern technology could ensure protection of the lives of citizens.
Expressing his concerns over the rape incident, the governor said, it is not possible to provide a policeman for every citizen, but to ensure their safety is our responsibility. The citizens are scared of their safety, the recent rape incident of minor Maham has terrorized not only the locality but every citizen.
Police have already arrested a suspect, while further investigation is underway. Capital punishment should be adopted for the criminals of sexual violence against the children, they should be treated in a humiliating way, he added.
Sharing the condolences on behalf of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the governor Sindh said, PM IK has personally aggrieved over the incident and is concerned about the case. There is nothing brutal than raping and killing a child and then dumping her body, nothing can compensate such heinous crimes, he added.
