August weather outlook
The majority of the nation will likely get above-average rainfall in August, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Its monthly weather forecast Overall, the PMD predicted above average rainfall in August for northeastern Punjab, Kashmir, southern Sindh, and coastal Balochistan.
In contrast to Gilgit Baltistan, most areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan may see slightly above average rainfall in August 2022.
The Met Office has issued a warning that intense rainfall may result in urban flooding in plain areas, including as the major cities of Punjab, Sindh, and KP, as well as flash flooding in hilly areas of Punjab, AJK, and KP.
The weather service states that riverine floods "cannot be ruled out” because of extreme hydro-meteorological occurrences over catchment areas.
The PMD stated in its weather outlook that "above normal temperatures in high altitudes are likely to boost the rate of snowmelt in the Northern Areas thus raising the possibilities of base flow in the Upper Indus basin.”
Due to the wet spell, there will be enough water available for the irrigation and power sectors over the predicted month.
