An incoming heatwave as predicted by Pakistan Meteorological Department has put hospitals on high alert as they prepare to deal with a probable rise in affectees.
Hospitals which come under the jurisdiction of Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) have been asked to gear up. Mayor Karachi, Waseem Akhtar has taken note of the situation and ordered healthcare services to stay prepared to deal with heat-stroke cases.
Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted an incoming heatwave in Karachi from the 5th of May to the 8th due to a change in the direction of wind.

Dry hot winds blowing in from the south and south west will lead to an increase in temperature with Mercury rising as high as 42 degree Celsius within the port city. During this time, the cool sea breeze shall remain suspended.
On Sunday, temperature in Karachi was recorded as high as 36 degree Celsius.
With ongoing lockdown during the month of Ramdan, the heatwave will further add to the grievances of the public. It is essential to note that healthcare services are already on the edge as they struggle to cope with coronavirus patients.
The coronavirus count reached 7,456 in Sindh on Sunday as 363 new cases were reported.
