Customs seize Rs 96 lakh worth of smuggled goods at Karachi airport

In a recent development at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, customs officials intercepted an attempt to smuggle electronic goods worth Rs 96 lakh. The incident involved a female passenger arriving from Dubai on a private airline flight.

Upon her arrival at the International Arrivals section, the Customs Collectorate staff, stationed at the Green Channel, stopped the woman for inspection under the Customs Act. Subsequent searches of her luggage revealed a stash of valuable items, including 4 iPhones, 2 MacBook Apples, 8 smartwatches, 25 handbags, and various high-value cosmetics.

The total estimated value of the seized goods is Rs 96 lakh. Authorities are taking legal action against the female passenger in accordance with the Customs Act. This interception underscores the ongoing efforts to curb illicit activities at the airport and enforce customs regulations to maintain the integrity of cross-border trade.
