In a move to increase the number of tests carried out within a day Sindh Government has ordered a consignment of 50000 testing kits as reported by local news media.
The consignment arrived in Karachi on Saturday morning and as per sources was ordered by the Sindh Government itself. Provincial government spokesman Murtaza Wahab tweeted that the kits were purchased from the Coronavirus Emergency Relief Fund. The kits are to be distributed to different districts to increase their testing capacity, he added.
Earlier on Saturday, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah posted a video message on twitter where he observed that six deaths had been reported in the last 24 hours and 104 new cases in the province were recorded.
In an attempt to contain the virus Deputy Commissioner Karachi East has also ordered coronavirus hotspots areas within the city to be sealed off.
As of yet, 27 new cases have been reported across Pakistan with the total cases rising to 5038.
