The Sindh Police has disclosed alarming statistics regarding encounters with robbers in Karachi, revealing a surge in confrontations with criminal elements within the city. According to police officials, there have been a total of 425 encounters with robbers in Karachi since the beginning of this year, resulting in the deaths of 55 robbers.

In addition to the encounters, police data indicates a concerning trend of casualties among citizens during robbery resistance. Since January, 19 individuals have lost their lives and over 55 others have sustained injuries while resisting robberies in Karachi.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, authorities underscored that from January to April 2023, 58 individuals were killed and more than 200 were injured in incidents of robbery resistance. Moreover, throughout the entirety of 2023, a staggering total of 108 people lost their lives and 469 were injured in similar confrontations.

Tragically, amidst the holy month of Ramadan, Karachi witnessed yet another loss of life due to dacoit activities, bringing the total number of casualties to 19. The relentless wave of criminal activities has prompted intensified efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb street crimes and ensure the safety and security of citizens across the city.

Police officials emphasized the ongoing efforts to combat criminal elements and restore public trust in law enforcement. However, the persisting challenges underscore the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to effectively address and mitigate the menace of street crimes in Karachi.
