Pakistan Railways Chief Executive Officer, Amir Baloch, announced on Thursday that the department is considering a reduction in fares for Eidul Fitr 2024 special trains to facilitate passengers returning home for the joyous occasion, as reported by ARY News.

To accommodate the surge in travelers during Eidul Fitr, Pakistan Railways has unveiled plans for four special trains, with two departing from Karachi prior to the festival.

The first special train is scheduled to depart from Karachi to Peshawar on April 7, while the second will head to Lahore. Additionally, another train will embark from Quetta to Rawalpindi on April 7. The fourth and final special train will facilitate travelers returning from Lahore to Karachi on April 9, enabling citizens to reunite with their families and loved ones for the festive celebrations.

CEO Baloch highlighted the growing popularity of the 'Premium Lounge' attached to the Bahauddin Zakariya Express among passengers. Plans are underway to extend this lounge facility to other trains such as Tezgam and Hazara Express, enhancing the overall travel experience.

The dining car onboard these special trains will accommodate up to 45 passengers at a time, offering a diverse menu of more than 40 dishes. The menu includes freshly baked 'roti' from an onboard oven, as well as barbecue and pizza options.

Addressing concerns regarding employee welfare, Baloch reassured that issues related to salary delays have been resolved, with ongoing efforts to address pension and gratuity matters.

In light of the upcoming Eidul Fitr, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, indicated that the festival is likely to fall on Wednesday, April 10, in Pakistan. Scientific observations suggest that the Shawwal crescent moon is expected to be sighted on the 29th of Ramadan this year.

With Ramadan spanning 29 days in 2024, Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on April 10 if the crescent moon is sighted on April 9, marking the end of the holy month and the beginning of the festive Eid celebrations across the country.
