No increase in water quota for Karachi: JI

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief, Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that not even a single gallon has been increased in the quota of water for Karachi during the past 17 years.

The JI leader said that late city mayor Nematullah Khan had completed the K3 project and had proposed the K4 water supply project to fulfill the need of the city.

The proposed project was kept in limbo by all later regimes, he said, adding that initially the project was aimed at supplying 660 million gallons of water to Karachi but the later regime curtailed it to only 260 million gallons of water per day.

Rehman condemned the behaviour of the PPP and other parties towards Karachi and said that the JI would not let the citizens alone to face the burning issues in the city.

He said that the JI is going to besiege the head office of the board responsible for water supply, in protest against corrupt practices on May 20.

The JI leader further said that the Karachi Caravan would be taken out on May 29.
