Malaria cases are surging in the Sindh province, with the provincial health department reporting 586 new cases in the past 24 hours. Notably, during this period, Karachi, the capital city, recorded no new malaria cases.
The breakdown of these cases reveals that 287 were reported in the Hyderabad division, 143 in Larkana, 98 in Mirpurkhas, and 58 in Shaheed Benazirabad.
The provincial health department further disclosed that Karachi has seen 2,242 cases of malaria so far this year, with over 300,000 individuals affected by the disease across Sindh. Tragically, two fatalities due to malaria have been recorded in the province this year.
Both fatalities were reported in Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions. The increasing incidence of malaria in Sindh is a cause for concern, prompting health authorities to intensify efforts to combat the disease and prevent further spread.
