Karachi residents are urged to prepare for another bout of rain and thunderstorms as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts adverse weather conditions from April 17 to April 19. The PMD's notification extends the alert to several other cities including Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Qambar Shahdad Kot, Jamshoro, and Sanghar during this period.

Additionally, the PMD has cautioned about the approach of a strong westerly wave expected to enter western parts on Tuesday night, potentially affecting most areas of Balochistan on Wednesday and extending to upper regions on Thursday. Flash flooding is also anticipated in some areas of Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Recent heavy rains wreaked havoc in Pasni, Gwadar, with rainwater inundating houses and shops, displacing residents. Pasni recorded 89.1 millimeters of rain during a continuous downpour lasting four hours. Meanwhile, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, at least four individuals lost their lives while seven others sustained injuries in rain-related incidents, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). Among the casualties were three children, with three women, three men, and a child injured. Nearly 15 houses suffered damage, with 13 partially damaged and two completely destroyed.

The impending adverse weather conditions underscore the need for precautionary measures and preparedness to mitigate potential risks and ensure public safety.
