Sindh Inspector General (IG) Ghulam Nabi Memon has taken strict action against police officers involved in the Gutka Mawa business by suspending 41 officers and personnel in Karachi and Hyderabad, including six Station House Officers (SHOs) and one Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Karachi. The decision was made on the recommendation of the provincial task force.
The suspended officers and personnel have been transferred to black companies. Among the suspended officers are SHOs from District Central, Kemari, and West in Karachi, as well as SHOs from Hyderabad Section A Latifabad and Hali Road. The suspended officers also include AVCC official Ali Dost, 10 police constables, 8 head constables, and 4 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) in Karachi, and 4 police constables, 3 head constables, and 1 ASI in Hyderabad.
All the suspended officers have been instructed to report to the Garden Police Headquarters. The action is part of the government's efforts to eliminate the menace of Gutka Mawa from the province.
